Behind the Sticker: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the leading voices for the American Civil Rights Movement motivated by his faith and hardships while living as a Black/African American man in the southern United States. His “I Have a Dream” speech was one of the greatest highlights in American History for Black/African Americans. Voting rights and integration of schools and public areas are barriers that Dr. King and others fought for and won with boycotts, marches, and speeches.
The King Center and The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People preserve the memories and rights of Black/African Americans as well as many Colored Americans while continuously fighting for equal rights to this day. Both organizations have been highlighting how this COVID pandemic has affected minorities economically, socially, and medically as well as injustice with the police force against minorities as a whole, so those are the main issues articles cover recently. Donations to these organizations are needed to keep funding efforts to bring change to a nation that has historically held minorities as servants and without equal liberties.
Each sticker purchase for this event will donate 40% of the monies split evenly between The King Center and the NAACP.
