Behind the Sticker: Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month
Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month spreads awareness of the modern day slavery, exploitation, and dealing of humans—children, women, and men. No one is safe from these subpar humans who treat their own species as property. This month was proclaimed as so by President Obama in 2012.
Hope for Justice and The Human Trafficking Institute are organizations that were created to help stop as much trafficking as humanly possible and repair lives that were impacted by trafficking. Both are involved with increasing protections for people at every level of government. There are a few indicators that can be noticed by everyday people:
- Is the person being coached on what to say?
- Is the person allowed to move freely or are they constricted?
- Does the person look threatened by someone?
- Does the person look deprived of sustenance or harmed?
- Is the person allowed to contact friends and family?
- Is the person allowed to socialize with anyone?
If you notice any kind of trafficking, please contact the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
